Revd John X Leal

Revd John Xavier Leal has been a Priest in the Church of God for eighteen years. John is originally from Corpus Christi, Texas in the USA. He read Biblical and Sacramental Theology at Cranmer Theological House (USA) where he was awarded Master of Divinity. He was Ordained Priest in the Reformed Episcopal Church and served that Church as a priest in good standing. In 2009 he continued that ministry moving to England and working in the Free Church of England in Wallasey at Christ Church Liscard. Two years ago (2014) John transferred into the Church of England where he was (re) ordained sub conditione in the Diocese of Chester, by Bishops Peter Forster (Deacon) and Glyn Webster (Priest).

Over these eighteen years John has worked to build and establish urban parishes throughout the USA with the Reformed Episcopal Church and has been assisting in the ministry and development of mainly urban parishes in the Free Church of England and the Church of England since 2009.

John is married to Heather and they have four grownup children between them three in the UK and one in America. Currently, Heather, a retired teacher, is a crochet artist and blogger with an online crochet business called The Patchwork Heart. We have agreed that our future belongs in the community where we can become involved in parish life, this will enable us to spend more time together and make a commitment as a couple to the parish.

John and Heather see the chance to start afresh in full time parish life as one of great excitement and adventure. As empty nesters they find themselves with time and a real desire to become part of a community, where they can support others in a vision to be a worshipping, growing and transformative Christian presence in the heart of Rossington and New Rossington.
